CASE STUDY – FIT OUT PROJECT – PHASE 1 (COVID19)

In early December 2019 we were approached again by an existing Customer of Interior Concepts Ltd, with a brief to link two of their buildings together and to renovate the front office and reception areas to create further meeting rooms and workspace.  The works were all required to accommodate the business growth and anticipated recruitment following increased demand in plastic components for respiratory masks and other components required caused by COVID19.

The temporary link building was designed and created by Interior Concepts Ltd.  The structure created a pedestrian corridor which linked the business running a specialist tooling business and a bespoke plastic component manufacturing business.  Both of which required cohesion to operate at an optimum level and to maximise plastic component output over the next three to five years Client expansion and recruitment plans.

Having completed the link building, the reception area then needed to be expanded, which meant a daily used meeting room was lost, so had to be re-created elsewhere.  This therefore triggered the alterations of the front offices into 2 meeting rooms and a large MD office.  By doing this, we were then able to expand the old MD office by removing a partition wall to make a large operations and finance office – keeping the key management team at the front of the offices.

The works included replacement fire doors and ironmongery, decorating, installation of glass walls and new floor coverings throughout.  We also had to upgrade the front office IT infrastructure and electrics to current 17 Edition standards and of course certification to NIC quality standards.   We also upgraded the lighting with LED technology in all areas to help reduce our Clients long term energy costs.

Phase 1 of the above essential works were completed by the end of August 2020, which meant we worked during the lockdown when lockdown conditions eased, whilst taking extra precautions and social distancing within the working areas.  This was extremely challenging as many suppliers were closed and many had no stock, thus we had to enhance our logistics to source and safely collect materials required to complete the works.
